Whenever I go to a restaurant, I am always confused about how much I should tip. Depending on how generous I am being, I typically go for 10 to 15% if it is a sit down restaurant. However, I’d be willing to go up to 20% if it were a really nice restaurant. Yet, should I tip based off of the quality of the service that I received or just make sure to always tip those amounts?
Faylinn: Gratuities do at times depend on the quality of the food, ambiance, and level of service provided. A generally minimum 15% gratuity may be sufficient for an informal restaurant; yet the trend today is to definitely move toward 18% to 20% for nicer establishments.
I recently just got a new promotion so I want to take my parents out to celebrate. I appreciate you telling me to call the restaurant when you are going to be late. I'm going to reserve a table at a nice fine dining restaurant for the three of us next week.
Claire: Congratulations on your promotion! Thanks for taking the time to comment on our post and finding it helpful. You are definitely a person who will go far in your career and life because you take the time to research how to achieve optimum results on something with which you are less familiar.

I liked it when you shared that it is great to thank the restaurant staff during the dining experience and especially when you are about to leave. My friend just mentioned the other day that he is planning to take her girlfriend for a fine dining experience and he is quite nervous since it is his first time. I will advise him to thank the staff and follow the etiquette of dining in.
